| According to Hopi legend, the Rain God planted the first plant in a
bowl of corn meal so that it would have eternal life. Coyote was jealous of the plant. Playing his magic flute, he interceded and caused the plant to die each winter. However, he could not prevent it from growing anew each spring! |
